Astronomy & Astrophysics Seminar: Cosmic Microwave Background Observations and the Standard Cosmology

Abstract:

I will review how cosmic microwave observations determine the parameters of our standard model and discuss how the observations provides evidence for dark matter, dark energy, and inflation.  I will discuss both consistencies and tensions with astronomical observations.  I will conclude by looking forward to how upcoming observations can yield new insights into novel physics and potentially resolve some of the tensions.
