Abstract:
Electrochemical systems such as lithium ion batteries are widely used to store energy for portable devices and automobiles, however new types of electrochemical systems which target grid-scale energy storage or water desalination are currently under intense development. In this talk, I will describe the development of two novel electrochemical technologies leveraging flow-through porous media: flow-through electrode capacitive water desalination and a membraneless hydrogen bromine flow battery.
