Particle Physics Seminar: Test of CP invariance in vector-boson fusion production of the Higgs boson using H—> tau tau decays
Prof. Markus Schumacher, Freiburg University
Abstract:
New sources of CP violation are needed in order to explain the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe in a dynamic way.
Hence it is instructive to test CP invariance in interactions of the Higgs boson with other particles. The analysis presented looks for new CP violating interactions in vector boson fusion production of the Higgs boson in pp collisions collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The decay mode into a pair of tau leptons is exploited.
The results are interpreted in the framework of an effective field theory. A CP-odd optimal observable is used.
The sensitivity of this analysis is compared to similar studies performed at the LHC.
