Abstract:
It is a very attractive idea that the Higgs boson is the fifth component of a gauge field in 5 dimensions, and that its condensation is driven by top quark mass generation. However, this idea leads to several distinct hierarchy problems.
I will discuss some strategies involving additional vectorlike quarks and subgroup alignment that might be helpful in ameliorating these problems.
