International Mathematical Olympiad 2016
Congratulations to the members representing Israel's math team
The 6 members representing Israel's math team won 6 medals: three silver medals and three bronze medals.
The team, which participated in the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016 held in Hong Kong, has returned to Israel with each member holding a medal.
The Israeli team was ranked 22nd out of the 109 countries that took part in the International Mathematical Olympiad.
600 students from all around the world have participated in the competition.
Three of the 6 members of the team – silver medal winner Yaron Brodsky and bronze medal winners Boaz Guberman and Liam Hanani – are students of Tel- Aviv University in the "Beno Arbel" program for young gifted students in mathematics.
The rest of the members, Omri Peer – silver medal and Dor Metzer – bronze medal, study at the Technion High School to Technion Program, and Yoav Avidan – silver medal, studies at Bar Ilan Youth Academic Program.
The team leaders are Lev Radzivilovsky, team instructor, Dan Carmon, team leader, and Amos Onn, deputy leader. Lev and Dan, who prepared the Israeli team over the past 6 years and led the team to its successes, are PhD Students at the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel Aviv University.
