Abstract:
Brane dynamics has been playing important role for understanding gauge theories. Due to the recent development of type IIB 5-brane web technique, we are able to study wider class of 5d N=1 gauge theories from the brane construction. After reviewing this recent development, we focus on a new 5-brane web configuration for 5d N=1 gauge theories with 6d UV fixed points. We see that Kaluza-Klein mode of the 6d N=(1,0) SCFT compactified on S^1 is realized as an instanton particle in the corresponding 5d N=1 gauge theory.
