Astronomy & Astrophysics Seminar: The Rotation of Uranus

Abstract:

The rotation of Uranus is a seemingly simple parameter to measure and appears to have little intrinsic importance.  However, this parameter is crucial to understanding the internal structure of the planet, and yet is difficult to measure.  I will present the history of attempts to make this measurement, explain, why the current best value may be incorrect, and speculate about how Uranus' rotation may actually hold important clues to how the planet formed.
