Abstract:
Laser Interferometer Space Antenna will be the first detector of gravitational waves in space providing an unprecedented tool to study supermassive black hole formation and their coevolution with galaxies, the primordial universe, fundamental relativistic physics, binary formation and evolution and more. In this talk, I will present how LISA observations combined with optical data can map the mass distribution in the Galaxy in a unique and powerful way. In addition, I will show how gravitational waves may be the only way to detect and study the possible progenitor population of SNIa from the double degenerate channel.
