High Energy Theory Group Meeting: Degenerate stars in AdS/CFT
Matti Jarvinen, TAU
Abstract:
I will discuss the letter [1] and the long article [2] on holographic neutron stars (in the bulk). The authors consider a degenerate "star" of free fermions in AdS space, and argue that it is mapped to a certain degenerate fermion state in the dual CFT. They go on including the gravitational self-interactions of the fermions in the bulk, solving their effect on the star. They study the gravitational collapse of the star into a black hole, which is interpreted as a high density phase transition in the dual CFT.
