Particle Physics Seminar: On the Horizon of the 2D Black Hole

Abstract:

I will present several arguments, quantum and classical, suggesting that the horizon of the SL(2)/U(1) black hole is singular.

This is due to non-perturbative effects in string theory that modify both the Euclidean and Lorentzian versions of this black hole.
