Abstract:
Many biological and man made structures form geometrically frustrated assemblies as their local constituents possess two or more mutually contradicting geometric tendencies. In this talk I will present two such systems. The first in the context of two dimensional liquid crystals, and the second in the three dimensional aggregation of chiral rod-like colloids.
