Abstract:
Atomic and molecular hydrogen (HI and H2) gases are fundamental components of the interstellar medium (ISM) of galaxies, near and far. I will present a historical overview, and also discuss some recent observational and theoretical results, illustrating the interconnections of interstellar HI and H2 with cosmological galaxy evolution.
