Center for Nano-Satellites and New Space

New Space" is a new revolutionary philosophy in space research, based on non-governmental, non-military industries, and focused on academic and commercial entities that develop faster, better and cheaper access to space missions, with a focus on socio-economic applications such as monitoring the environment, climate change, natural hazards, etc.  The main tool in New Space is the use of "cube satellites" made of units of 10x10x10cm cubes that can be attached together like lego to build larger satellites. Today Israel has a few cube-sats already in space, and two of these were built by high school students. Tel Aviv University proposes to establish an Institute to teach, build, and launch cube-sats using TAU students and professors, while collaborating with high schools throughout the country.  The data from these missions will also be used for scientific research.
