Six senior faculty members from the Faculty of Exact Sciences received research grants from the European Research Council (ERC)

Congratulations to Dr. Yaron Ostrover, Prof. Sasha Sodin, Prof. Asaf Shapira (from the School of Mathematical Sciences), Dr. Iftach Haitner, Dr. Shahar Maoz (from the School of Computer Science) and Dr. Haim Suchowski (from the School of Physics & Astronomy) for winning research grants from the European Research Council, 2014.

The European Research and Development program launched in 2007, focuses on funding excellence in scientific research. The ERC awards very large research grants (3.5 - 4.5 million Euro) on the basis of clear scientific excellence. In recent years this program has become one of the key funding sources for researchs in Israel, and faculty members from all institutions of higher education are submitting research proposals. The success rate for ERC grants is, therefore, a measure of excellence in scientific institutions in the country.

The awards to our faculty members reflect the high international standing of research in the Faculty of Exact Sciences.
