Ph.D. Students

updated: 23.05.2021

The Blavatnik School of Computer Science in Tel Aviv University admits international MSc and PhD students.

The MSc program normally takes two years to complete. Students are required to take 8 graduate courses and 4 seminars, and to write a thesis under the supervision of a faculty member. Admission requires an undergraduate degree in Computer Science; the admissions committee gives a significant weight to the undergraduate grades. Students in our MSc program can transition into the PhD program without first writing an MSc thesis.

The PhD program normally takes four to five years to complete. The emphasis is on research and students are expected to write a dissertation, under the supervision of a faculty member, describing significant original research contributions. Admission requires an MSc degree (in a program with a thesis) or equivalent in Computer Science and the consent of a faculty member to supervise the candidate.

Full-time graduate students in both programs normally receive fellowships and are also encouraged to work in the school as teaching assistants.
