Organic Chemistry Laboratory
Semester 1 - advanced laboratory in organic chemistry for 3nd year students.
The lab work exposes the student to the use of advanced techniques in organic synthesis. It trains him for independent work in postgraduate education.
In the first half of the semester each student receives an individual program taken from a pool of existing experiments. In the second half of the semester each student gets a personal project- a multistep synthesis of known organic material.
The lab operates four days per week. The students are divided into two groups. Each group works two days, 11 hours per week, throughout the semester. Each group is divided into several smaller groups of 3-4 students with two instructors who change during the semester.
Semester 2 - An obligatory Lab for 2nd year students.
Each student is given his own working plan as was the case during the first semester. During the lab, the students acquire basic work skills in synthetic organic chemistry.
The students are divided into small groups of 4-5 in the group. Each small group has two instructors for the whole semester.
The lab operates four days a week, nine hours a day throughout the semester.
The laboratory is located at the Exact Sciences Building, Shenkar Chemistry 201.
